A monitoring workflow from installation to escalation

Match coverage to the site

An office entrance, a warehouse loading area and an outdoor yard present different coverage and detection requirements. Start with a site security assessment, then review placement, lighting, operating conditions and the events that should trigger attention. These are scoping examples; final design follows the site assessment.

Specify setup and integration

The engagement can define camera placement, hardware and vendor requirements, network capacity, storage, access permissions and retention settings. Existing cameras, recorders and access-control systems require compatibility review. Installation coordination and acceptance checks confirm that the agreed design works in its intended environment.

Assign alert review and response

Specify who receives an alert, who reviews it, how false positives are handled and when escalation occurs. AI detection supports a decision; it does not establish the full context of an event. System-health checks, ongoing monitoring and human response are separate responsibilities that must be defined in the service agreement.

Questions before you commission the work

Can existing cameras be used?

Possibly. Reuse depends on the camera and recorder capabilities, network, software licensing and the required detection features. The assessment confirms compatibility before recommendations are made.

Is every alert reviewed around the clock?

Continuous human review is not implied. Monitoring hours, responsible reviewers, escalation contacts and response arrangements are agreed in writing for the selected service.

How do we evaluate the installation?

Agree acceptance criteria before deployment: coverage of the required areas, representative detection scenarios, alert delivery, access permissions and escalation handoffs. Training should show operators how to review an event and record the action taken.
